Red Habanero Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb - Ground beef
  • 1 tbsp - Canola oil
  • ½ Onion, diced
  • ½ cup - Red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp - Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp - Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp - El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce
  • 1 tsp - Yellow mustard
  • 1 cup - Ketchup
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 4 to 6 Burger buns

Preparation

  1. Preheat your grill for indirect;
  2. Make 4 beef patties and place them on the grill for indirect; Toss a handful of wood chips (preferably mesquite) onto hot coals for smoking and close the lid; cook for about 30 minutes at 300°F;
  3. In a preheated cast iron skillet, sauté the onions and red bell peppers, then add the cooked beef patties and crush them to make small chunks; Add the ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, black pepper and El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce and mix well;
  4. Assembly the sloppy joes with grilled burger buns and serve.
