The combination of a stunning vintage in the Mosel and one of the blue-chip producers in the Saar makes for a must-have Riesling. Von Hovel is a founding member of the VDP Mosel and his finest casks have demanded top dollar at auction starting back to the 19th century. The young Maximilian von Kunow who took over the estate when his father had a stroke in 2008, has added youthful energy to this storied estate. This wine is laced with stone fruit and slate-like minerality with wonderful balancing acidity to keep this feeling fresh despite the sweetness. Great concentration and mouthfeel come together to create a highly quaffable, wonderfully proportioned wine. We absolutely love a great off-dry Riesling with Brown Sugar Hot Mustard Baby Back Ribs! The sweetness plays beautifully against the spice and the subtle heat. There's a significant dose of acidity to balance the sweetness in the Riesling which cuts like a knife through the fat of the ribs.
